Sex Education: Its Importance and Need in the Society

Sex Education, as the term clearly indicates, refers to education which is based on human sexual behavior. Parents, schools or caretakers offer it in some parts of the world to educate the children, who are stepping into their adolescence. If formally received, sex education is either taught as a full course at high school or junior high school level or in biology, health, home economics classes. Teaching sex education is rather a controversial issue; debates have been going on for several decades discussing if it should be taught formally in schools or not. Sex education in schools should exist without any doubts and apprehensions as it offers many benefits.

Adolescence is called the “age of storm and stress”. The young teenagers, during this phase of life are under deep psychological pressure. Mainly, this psychological pressure is the result of one’s growing sexual needs and the biological changes and hormonal effects on the individuals. During this time, most of the children are observed to become easily irritable. They find it difficult in most situations to deal with the family members. They might not want to talk to them about the natural changes taking place in their body and mind. In such circumstances, one highly suitable option is that of the teachers who are able to teach them to control their urges until a proper age. In schools, trained teachers would help the students to know how to deal with their sexual impulses. This role can not be replaced by parents or other entities. A classroom discussion and lesson would make them feel it is natural, and they would also feel that they are being understood by someone. However, taking them individually to psychologists or other trained educators would not help. In such a situation they might consider themselves to be different and misunderstood by family and people around them. Therefore, it becomes crystal clear that the best way to offer sex education is always in school.

It is a psychological phenomenon that children at young age are under an immense peer pressure. Something that they learn in the class with their peer group is what makes a better impression on their minds than otherwise. They are more focused in the lessons that teachers offer and are more eager asking question to clear their ambiguities. They might feel embarrassed and uneasy questioning their parents about it, but it always differs in case of the teacher in the class. This is because everyone in the class is going through the same stage. A class discussion becomes healthy source of learning as it helps in enhancing the knowledge on the subject.

Many people advocate that sex education should only be restricted to families, that is, that parents should personally educate their children. This view is totally illogical and holds complications and questions. The first point is that not all the parents would be willing to do it or would be able to do it. Secondly, this education needs a proper channel through which it should reach its required learners. There could be many possible problems in the families so they might not be able to take the role of a teacher in educating their children regarding sex. The demand of annulment of sex education from the schools is highly conservative.

Most importantly, there are many single parents, how would they take up this challenge of educating their children on their own? Parents can not properly educate their children about sex also because they lack details that qualified sex educators convey in schools. Thus, the stance of abolishing sex education in school is not a favorable thought. In many observed cases where parents or children are embarrassed about talking over sexual matters with each other, it is most likely to be uneasy situation at both the ends. This keeps the children from learning the answers to the questions they might have in their minds. This can be a great flaw of shifting the duty of sexual education from teachers to the parents. It will leave the children only half or less educated about the issue and as they say “Little knowledge is a dangerous thing”, this might end up in grave situations.

According to research, most of the parents also feel uneasy because they know that they are not equipped to provide the apt sexual information to their children. They also fail to comprehend what details and information should be concealed and what should be revealed, keeping in mind their children’s age. On the other hand, there might also be parents who would feel comfortable talking to their children about sexual matters, but only when the children bring the matter up.

Most parents, around the world, may also lack role models to look up to as they would not have talked over sexual issues with their own parents in their adolescent. This makes them inefficient to trigger their roles of educating their children in an effective way as the assigned teachers are able to do in schools.

Sex education is not limited to only a single branch of knowledge. This education focuses on a number of significant sexual matters that are offered with especially designed courses and programs. Sex education covers the education of relationships, sexual abstinence at a certain level and teaching to practice safe sex to the level of children who are thought to be sexually active. Therefore, its claim for being appropriate and guiding holds strong base.

At a certain age of adolescence, growing children have problems facing relationships and controlling their personal emotions. Conflicts related to such matters persuade many youngsters to commit suicides or take part in other immoral activities. Proper sex education in schools also concentrates in making the youngsters emotionally stronger and in educating ways to cope with relationship problems. This argument strongly shows the immense benefit of sex education in schools.

Sex education is an important health strategy and this cannot be denied. AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases can only be controlled if people are aware of precautions and have a vast knowledge in this case. This knowledge is conveyed through sex education, and if sex education is banned in schools and if parents have to educate their children, then it would not be as beneficial to the individuals and the society on the whole as teaching in school could be.

Sex education does not exist in all parts of the world. Asians are commonly regarded conservative when compared to westerners. It is not a part of their course in schools; this does not in any way mean that their teenage pregnancy rate is any lower if they are not exposed to sexual matters openly. In fact, this is one way how peers can mislead most of the youngsters and persuade them to bask in young age sexual relationships without any attempts for safety. This has resulted in serious problems such as the spread of fatal diseases like AIDS and has also increased rate of illegitimate births.

Researches have shown that the cause for ramification of STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) in the eras of 80s and 90s in the US and the UK is the lack of knowledge and information provided about sex in schools or home. Home and family has never and will never play an integral part in conveying sex education to teenagers, therefore to rely on the option of home, is to deceive your own self from the expected exigency in the future.

Some conservative groups assert that to discuss sexual issues openly is to devalue religion. No religion in the world abstain its followers from spreading the information that is so essential for human lives. Sexual behavior is natural and takes place through biological changes and this cannot be questioned as this is a part of human life. Thus people who take refuge under the religious shelter, to make their arguments strong, are misinterpreting religious ideas and laws.

Modern time is the time of internet and powerful media. Teenagers are exposed to Hollywood, TV and internet. These sources offer demonstration of sex which is highly thoughtless and casual; in this situation it is almost illogical to leave the teenagers on their sexual choices. They are young and fully excited; therefore they can not make a favorable choice. Sex education in school offers the information and knowledge they need to understand to know the responsibility that is accompanied by sexual relationships. The teacher in school helps the students to know the difference between a thoughtless and thoughtful sex. Having an urge for sex is not a problem; it is a natural process showing that the young people are developing to become adults; however the problem is having unsafe sex and hurting people through sexual choices.

People who claim that sex education in schools have more cons than pros, often come up with the statements suggesting that sex education in classroom should be avoided because the most effective tool for offering sex education, according to them is TV, films, magazines and media. Such people fail to understand that trained sex educators under especially designed programs teach sex education to children in schools. They are thus able to handle children’s problems and clear their ambiguities in the best possible way, whereas magazines, films, TV and other channels and mediums of providing sex education are be reliable. They are most of the times urging the young people by encouraging their sexual promiscuity rather than effectively teaching and educating them. This wrong approach damages the society and the individuals in disguise of ameliorating them.

People contradicting the notion insist that sex education always makes the learners have sex and experience it personally, once they learn about it in school. The reality is that sexual urge for any human being is a natural occurrence. When children reach to a certain age, whether they find people to educated them about sex or not, they do have natural instincts about it, and therefore if provided a chance they would surely want to satisfy their urge. This natural reaction can not in any way be related to the outcome of sex education in schools. In fact, the best time for letting sex education play its role is when the sexual urge increases and the teenagers want to find a source for its satisfaction. It offers individuals with the required knowledge so that they are careful. It is only then that they understand the consequences of sex leading to child birth as well as sexually transmitted diseases. Thus sex education is basically a warning and a caution for such children who are stepping into the phase of life where they would need to know all this.

Some people who go against the topic also argue that even though sex education exists, it has still not decreased the rate of teenage pregnancies. I would rather not go deep in to the moral issue of the topic, but it is important here to discuss and point out the shortcomings of our society. Social values that insist that being single, pregnant and teenagers is fine, is what has to be changed. Through educating the children and making them aware that it is just not ‘cool’ to be pregnant when single or teenager, and just because ‘others are also doing it’ does not in any way justify their actions, this change can be achieved. There are many sexual education programs that teach the learners about the grave consequences that can result in having early sex. This type of sex education in schools is helpful and makes the learners responsible and mature enough to understand the difference between morality and immorality.

People, who are against the notion, repeatedly state the question that why sex education is given so much importance when there are also many other issues connected with juvenile delinquencies such as drugs, drinking and aggressive bullying. No doubt, there are also many other issues to consider important enough to be taught in school for awareness but psychological researches show that behind most of the juvenile behavioral problems, one main reason is always the active sexual urge which drives the young people to indulge themselves in harmful activities like drug abuse and alcoholism. It is also commonly observed that young teenagers who indulge into such activities are unaware of proper sex education. Once they are given a true picture of sex and its consequences their mental status relaxes and they are easily able to cope with other social taboos.

Parents, who believe that sex education pollutes the minds of their children, have in large number taken their children out of schools promoting sex education. In this process of instilling in their minds their religious and family values, they forget that the media, their children are largely exposed to can also lead them astray. Sex education in schools does not in any way offers them an invitation to have open sex by making them aware of the risks; it just educates them about the matter in the best way.

Apart from educating the students about safe sex, sex education in schools is also helpful as it helps students to learn proper terminology for reproductive system, STDs and birth contraceptives rather than the street lingo that is commonly used by laymen. Sex education classes are gender based and that is why the young learners are not embarrassed and are only taught what is related to their gender. Early inclusion of classes also helps the teenagers to either become abstinent for some time or to become responsible if they are already active. Therefore, many sexual problems that occur in adulthood can be controlled if effective and apt sex education is given at the right time.

A proper sex education which is holistic, nonjudgmental and comprehensive never misleads or misguides the teenagers. Such a curriculum should be imposed in all schools around the nation; it is an answer to many social problems and conflicts. Would any parent leave their kindergarten kids to walk alone on the streets without letting them know how to walk safely? No parent would actually do that, in the same way, letting your teenager children socialize with their peers and fellows without any proper sexual education is nothing contrary to the analogy mentioned above. It is hazardous and risky for their lives. Thus, proper sex education in schools should be encouraged so that they learn all the significant facts through trained teachers, who help and supports them in these matters of highly crucial value. Sex education should be taken as a positive aspect which promises healthier and better life for the youngsters. It therefore should be taken as a subject taught in schools to enhance knowledge on the subject matter; something merely as human anatomy or biology class. Sex education should be given in all schools to educate the children for their betterment, avoiding it will only result in emotional, social and health problems.

Angina – Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Angina is a term generally used to refer a kind of tightening sensation. However, there are many sub classes of angina and it all depends on the area, which is suffering from this kind of tightening discomfort. One of the well-known sub classes of angina are like Bowelgina, which is also called abdominal angina. There are also sub classes of angina, which are a threat to life. One such sub class is called Ludwig’s angina, which is caused when the floor of the mouth is exposed to some sort of infection or in other words, dental infections. However, although angina has many sub classes when looked in scientifically, generally, the term angina is commonly used to denote a sub class called angina pectoris. Angina pectoris is a serious pain that is experienced in the torso area or chest.

Symptoms of Angina

The symptoms associated with this disorder are quite difficult to distinguish, as it could range from heartburn or other kind normal chest pain to heavy heart attack. However, the good news here is that there are certain signs, which could be very much helpful in realizing the angina attack. Some people will have to face a big deal of discomfort although they are not subjected to face heavy pain. In common words, angina can be defined as burning or squeezing of torso area, torso tightening, heaviness of chest and choking sensation etc. Usually, these feelings may last not more than five minutes. However, getting an ECG is the best option to identify angina pectoris.

Looking deeper into angina, there are basically two types. The first type is called stable angina, which actually refers to symptoms demonstration after one has worked out his body with some exercises like lifting heavy weight and jogging etc. Of course, the second type is called Unstable Angina. Unstable Angina could be quite dangerous as it occurs without any kind of provocation. It is because of blood clots, which will be released from the blood vessels. In fact, angina itself is a kind of symptom of a heart disorder called myocardial ischemia. It is actually regarding the blocking, narrowing as well as tightening of the blood vessels. To be more specific, it is all about the arteries, which are busy in supplying the oxygenated blood to human heart. When the arteries are narrowed, the blood flow will be quite difficult. In fact, fat is said to be the main culprit usually causing these problems.

Treatment for Angina

The most preferred way of treating angina is aspirin. Aspirin has some blood thinning qualities, which will in turn make the blood flow easy and fast. Hence, the blood will reach all parts of human body. In addition, aspirin will also help to dissolve little blood clots, which are the reason behind angina pains. On the other hand, there are also some other treating methods like magnesium administration, which is usually recommended for mild angina. Magnesium injections are also used to treat severe angina cases. It is strictly advised to consult the family physician before going with any kind of treatment.

How to Have Clutch Power

The key to your motocross bike’s performance lies in the clutch. You may be an ace as a motocross player but if your clutch is not doing its part, you may find your engine difficult to control. The following are some tips for an excellent clutch.

First of all, take out those Factory Clutch Springs and substitute them with stiffer ones. Bike factories never use maximum performance parts when assembling the clutch. High performance parts usually cost more money than those being used by factories. But keep in mind that you don’t have to change every spring. Usually two or three will do but you can experiment on what works for you.

Do not neglect your   transmission  oil. It’s not the same as cars and trucks wherein you can change the oil once a year only. Ideally, your oil must be replaced every two or three races. It may sound too much for you, but changing the oil is cheaper than a  transmission  overhaul. Remember that the crud that you pick up on the track accumulates and will put early stress on your clutch plates.

Always carry extra shims for emergencies. You’ll never know when you’re going to need these things. It might happen in the middle of a race and you won’t be able to remedy the situation. You can simply insert the right washer under the bolt. The added thickness will preload your springs and take away that spongy feeling in your clutch.

You can top off your  transmission  to the proper level with Automatic  Transmission  Fluid, that is, if it is GM compatible. But don’t use a Ford type fluid. The difference between the two is GM fluid grips better than a Ford fluid which is slick as molasses.

Never use factory-installed aluminum clutch plates. These plates are suitable only for regular use but not tough enough for extended motocross use. They don’t hold up as well as steel plates which are heavier but more durable. There are two drawbacks for aluminum plates. One, they wear more quickly than steel leaving metallic deposits in the oil, thus, hastening mechanical wear. Two, aluminum warps easily when subjected to extreme heat generated in motocross.

Aging plates build up a glaze layer on the surface which makes them slip more noticeably. When this slippage is noticed, take out your fiber clutch plates and sand the surface to remove the slippery glaze. Reinstall after cleaning.

Make sure your clutch lever isn’t set too tight. Set it so that a quarter can slide between the lever perch and the lever without catching the clutch cable.

Soft Vs Hard Skills – Pros and Cons?

We have been facing different challenges in different stages throughout our academic, social and work lives. All these will be either the “Soft” or “Hard” skills which will govern our success in either areas we pursue. In order to achieve success, we shouldn’t be concentrating on the “HARD” skills alone which we describe as your “Technical” skills in your own domain expert areas. We will need to build on our “SOFT” skills. The questions that we need to ask ourselves are “What are the Pros and Cons of Soft vs Hard Skills or vice versa?” and “Which is more important?” How do we unleash our inner Soft Skills Strength in any arena?

The followings are some and not limited to areas that I found more appropriate for further discussions for anyone who wish to build on their Soft Skills which will be complimenting their Hard Skills in the Business and Social World!

  1. Customer Assessment skills (Mentality and Reaction)
  2. “Need Vs Want” Thought Analysis skills
  3. “Cause and Effect” Impact Analysis skills
  4. Mental Vs Physical Observation skills
  5. “Listen, Digest and Query” skills
  6. Team Building skills
  7. “Share” vs “Take” skills

All the above are some ingredients or points that I have experienced throughout my Social and Business work arena. So, this doesn’t contribute to the full range of Soft Skills that most people understand. Instead, these are the areas that I believe we need to build on as foundation towards greater heights.

“Hard” skills can be obtained through a series of structured in-class or online lecturing and tutoring. Whereas “Soft” skills learning and sharpening, on the other hand, are not that straight forward. You will have to undergo a series of interaction and scenarios to fully understand how each areas will have impact on the end result. To fully maximise the above, we have to first understand ourselves in terms of our inner natural personality and characters. How do we leverage on the following to be more successful.

1. Customer Assessment skills (Mentality and Reaction)

Every one may have already been in this position before one way or the other but how many of you really understand what exactly is the Customer’s mentality and reaction towards certain engagement? Why is there an co-relation between a customer and supplier relationship? An individual can be a customer at one end and also a supplier on the other hand, this is so if we are an intermediary business who rely on suppliers for their products to fulfill our production and sell it to our customers (end products consumption).

So, how would you be able to assess a customer’s request and mentality? This can be accomplished or fulfilled through the fostering of an interactive conversation with the customers in the following areas:

  • Learn to interact efficiently with Q & A
  • Gather information with proper data capture
  • Understanding the input and output results of the customer business activities
  • How would the customer requires your assistance?
  • What are the Critical Success Factor (CSF) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) from the customer viewpoint?
  • Demand and Supply model
  • Need basis with Value-added services

In summary, If you are able to gather the above points, you will be able to understand how the customer’s requirements and NEEDs instead of WANTs be fulfilled for a long-term Value-Added services. This will be discussed in the next section.

2. “Needs Vs Want” Thought Analysis Skills

What are the differences between the two and their final end results? How will this factor impact your long-term relationships with your customers (either external or internal). Through my past observation and experiences, “Want” thought is usually arises from the Human nature and desires! This is not a long-term requirements as this will only arise due to some of the following factors.

  • Peer pressure
  • Environment, Social and Technological advancement
  • Internal physical and mental desire
  • Product Evolution

I have only list the above factors that I have faced and encountered from my past experiences. The above may not be the final factors that affects the human nature and desires for the “Want” thought. Please bear in mind that it is not in any order of importance. Instead if you do understand this, it will definitely help you in analyse situation. This is an area that is not very straight forward as individual may or may not even know what is their “needs” or what do they “want”? That’s the obstacles that everyone has to overcome and clear the path. Until that time, you will probably be satisfying your customers through the “Want” instead of the long-term “Needs”.

In summary, “Needs” are long-term requirements that will build Value-Added services towards achieving certain objectives such as Cost Control, Cost Savings, Profit leaping, etc. Meanwhile, the “Want” will only be able to satisfy the short-term and unrealistic value that may not even impact anything except the human desire nature.

3. “Cause and Effect” Impact Analysis Skills

It may seem that this may not have any great impact for the success of individual utilizing their own inner Soft Skills in the Social and Business world. But I strongly believe on this and I have already faced a couple of scenarios which have hinder the progress of certain assigned projects.

Let’s look at how “Cause” can have certain “Effect” on Customer / Supplier relationships. In this universe, we are always surrounded with the “Cause” and “Effect” results which not many of you may have encountered during this lifetime but it will most likely happen in the business world. If you do not understand or have mistaken the “Needs” of the customer, the “Effect” will multiply when you are about to deliver the end products or results.

The worst scenarios will probably a total rejection from the customers and this in turn will have a very great impact on the company’s profit and loss margin. Therefore, in order not to fall into this trap. You will have to look further into your inner Soft Skill to assist you in determining the “Needs” and the impact on this. Please bear in mind, this is not just 1 factor that may affect the overall result but without proper TEAM work will also lead to the negative results.

In summary, “Cause” will always lead to the direct “Effect” on the end results. It may be a very huge impact if this is not handled cautiously through proper Tracking and Analysis work. In order to achieve this and also unleash your strength within, nobody will be more successful with the cohesiveness of TEAM effort!

4. Mental Vs Physical Observation Skills

Most of you may be wondering why is “Mental” and “Physical” Observation skills are also part of the Soft Skills in my context. You may also be wondering how will Mental observation being carried out during the social and business interaction session. Why is Mental observation is more accurate than physical observation skills? This will definitely bring us back the “Need” and “Want” though analysis skills. We did say that “Need” is more a long-term requirements than “Want” which is only a human nature desire on a very short-term basis.

So, Mental will probably be working hand in hand with the “Need” analysis technique which will provide an insight understanding of what exactly the other party’s “Need” in the long-term requirements. But not every individual will be able to exercise this skill unless you are fully aware of how exactly Mental Observation skills work?

Mental in itself means nothing but it you coupled with the “Need” analytical skills to gather information, you will be able to outweigh the “Physical” observation results. But there are incidents or situation that prohibit you from maximizing or exercising the former skill. I have only managed to master this skill through extensive Social networking and interaction with people. Not just interaction but gathering and analyzing on each individual’s “Need” Vs “Want”. This can be done through the series of points listed in the sub-heading of “Need” Vs “Want” Thought Analysis Skills. This skill will need to be sharpened through full interaction with others and not through any books or article which explains the process.

In summary, Mental Observation skill doesn’t stand out by itself but will require coupling with the “Need” Analysis skill in order to fulfill the end results. This is targeting on the long-term requirements of the customers.

5. “Listen, Digest and Query” Skills

There are many times when I was involved in the group conference calls or meetings in either the business or the social work environment, I always faced with different categories of associates, staff or team members. Some may be very involved in asking a lot of questions, some may be providing a lot of explanation or answers and some even just quietly sit through the entire session without anybody notice his / her existence.

Therefore, it may not be very effective if you are always the person who is the Inquirer, the Speaker or the Listener. The worst thing will be the last category which will be the “ALL YES” group of audience. As this group will just accept anything along the way but back out when things not in favour of the right directions. So, in order to provide or unleash this, you will definitely need to learn the “Listen, Digest and Query” skills which allow you to capture all requirements at the fullest.

Once you have exercise the “Listen” technique, you will be able to listen and capture the right information for the right decision to be made at the later stage! When you have managed this part, the “Digest” portion is where you will analyze and evaluate the captured information before next level of confirmation. If during this time, any uncertainties arises, you will be able to “Query” more on the presented information and clarify on the accuracy of it. Most of the time, a lot of people will just jump into final conclusion after the “Digest” level which may or may not have unexpected uncertainties which may surface later.

In summary, “Listen, Digest and Query” should be exercised at all times whether are you in a Social gathering or the Business meetings. This will definitely eliminate any unwanted conflicts at the later stage and foster a better relationships in a long-term basis.

6. Team Building Skills

Throughout my entire years either in the Social, Volunteer or Career arena, I truly believe that nobody can survive in a “Lone Ranger” mentality or world! Everyone needs everyone to fulfill the main goals or end result. Just like a building can only be constructed with a team of expertise, without any of these expertise, we will not be able to have a complete standing building to work or live in.

Therefore, we will need to ensure that we have already learned to blend into any teams to work together to achieve the common goals. This skill is not like any other soft skills, it can be taught and mentored through a series of guidance. It all depends on individual’s acceptance level in terms of their achievements through mentorship. Working in teams will also provide a full advantage of the right assignments carried out by the right expertise at the highest level of confidence and end results.

So, please bear in mind that all humans need team to survive or achieve certain goals or objectives. During this team building you will also learn to exercise the “Share” instead of the “Take” mentality. In my context of “Sharing” means voluntarily provide your expertise and teach or guide others who wish to learn and excel towards their goals! This kind of act will be regarded as “Contributor” attitude towards any individual and will achieve greater heights. But not all individuals have the ability to share their knowledge or anything as it all depends on individual capacity or experiences or exposure towards the achievements. Some individuals will only be “taking” most of the inputs which will make them as “Doers” rather than “Achievers” or “Leaders”.

In summary, “Share” is always good for building a strong team who will in turn assist you in any manner to achieve anything that you have set forth. By “Sharing” you are also mentoring or guiding younger achievers towards greater heights in their endeavours.

7. “Share” Vs “Take” Skills

In the earlier section, I have mentioned about the differences between the “Share” Vs “Take” skills. Let’s now look at it in more detail.

There are people who may think that “why should I share so much?” and “What if I am overtaken by sharing too much?” and “What if I lose my job or become outdated after sharing my knowledge?” If you have any of this mentality or queries, then you may not even know the nature of “Sharing” and how it attracts similar forces or category of personality.

When you start your undivided sharing, you are already elevated to the next level which is the mentor. At this level, you have already achieved certain level of accomplishment in your skill sets! It is at this level, when you share, you will also build on new knowledge from other people. My principle and experiences already told me that with more sharing, you gain more in terms of your expertise knowledge. This is the law of energy and synergy where each parties in the group will be of the same qualities and mentality.

In fact, I will not forgo the fact that there are a lot of people who are what I termed as “Taker” who only takes in what other people’s sharing. They may or may not be in the upper hand as they will ultimately obsolete from the sharing group after realizing the zero contributing factor by this group. So, if we wish to excel in the world in any form, let’s not be too controlled over your sharing what you know and what you have learnt. If you are able to open your height and mind on this, positive results will also waiting for the right success.

In summary, “Sharing” is an act of virtue and mentorship without any intentions of any expectations of returns from anyone! It will be the most generous part of your heart and it will build a stronger and better relationships from anyone who comes into your path either Social, Volunteer or Career world.

All the above are based on my past experiences and also lesson learnt through the Social, Volunteering, Career and also Business world environment! I am sharing this is to provide some insight to all of you on how you can unleash your inner Soft Skills to achieve greater heights in life. I did not cover all the skill sets as I feel that the above are the possible core ingredients that we should be working on before moving on to other skill sets. If you feel that, there are missing elements in the article, please do let me know and I am more than willing to discuss or explore further with you. I do wish that you have enjoyed the article and feel free to provide your feedback or comments (if any) so that I can improve myself further. My principle is to share as much as I can and learn as much as I can from anyone with the same level of interest.

The rambunctious pioneering and courageous spirit of the Aries child is evident in the enthusiastic and confident manner that they exhibit as they run towards the next experience in life. The Arian soul is dynamic, committed, fun loving and quick-witted.

Aries is ruled by Mars, the red planet.

The heart of the flame; Aries is always associated with Red maybe because Mars, its ruling planet, is seen as a red glow in the night’s sky. Red is appropriate with Aries’ bold, passionate and brave qualities. Imagine blood on the battlefield, a red valentine, or red lava pouring out of an active volcano. It’s primal, masculine and impulsive; a perfect match for the spirit of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac; a Fire sign.

This is the color of love, fruitfulness and high energy. Red signals action and will keep you alert and provide extra courage when necessary.

The Arian who is surrounded by the color red will be given strength of will; this can act as a stimulant when the Arian is depressed. For everyone, wearing red will actually increase your temperature and raise your body heat. This may be because subliminally it is linked to raising blood pressure and circulation. Red is a good color for people to wear who are anemic, but not advisable for those with high blood pressure, as red acts as a stimulant and releases adrenaline into bloodstream. For everyone red acts as a detoxifier for the consciousness as well as the physical body and can help fight infection.

Aries Children

The Aries child is naturally enthusiastic and will inspire everyone around them. They stay busy even early in life are a ‘mover and shaker.’ They have rushed in on this first sign of the zodiac and their daredevil nature will want to experience everything. The Aries child ‘takes the stage!’

The Aries baby will benefit from a nursery that has the softer hues of a flickering flame on the walls; pale yellows and light salmon colors will blend well with the accessories that are necessary to promote the growth of their lively imagination.

They will also be sublimely happy in a room that feels like they can take flight!

Deep rich wood tones on the crib and furniture will promote a grounded feeling to this lively spirited child. A battery operated mobile with bright colors on the moving objects will cause squeals of delight from the tiny Arian child.

The Aries child does not bring the tolerance or tact that the signs later in the zodiac wheel have arrived under. This child will readily tell you exactly what is wrong with anything and everything in his path and will cry loudly to let you know; balance and harmony become vital to the Aries child’s growth and development. The Arian child, unless very well trained, waits for no man either. Aries can be quite temperamental but will seldom sulk or carry a bad moment for long.

These kids will be authentically baffled when anyone reacts to their outbursts. It is the exclusive right of the Arian character to throw a huff without explanation, they are also the last one to understand why anyone else should react or take any of their behavior personally.

The Aries child requires careful cultivation as you nurture them into tact, diplomacy, sharing and caring.

Nurture is the keyword; if you attempt to force any of these on the Aries child you will be met with unimaginable rebellion. The fiery force of the Mars personality learns much better through example.

Save your breath if your impulse is to shout back. Try a short ‘time out’ for this child as they forget quickly in their rapid pursuit thorough life. Allow just long enough for your active Aries to reflect and for you to gather your reasoning abilities.

The Aries child is new to the zodiac and must learn to listen to and respect others around them. Luckily, they love to learn. Start early by encouraging your Aries child to take responsibility for their unruly behavior. Persuade this child pay attention to the actions and reactions of the people involved and see what went wrong and where their responsibility lies in the event. Then quietly suggest a different option for the future.

The Arian will ultimately learn to be more considerate and develop a more charming attitude. Your Aries child is honest to the core and requires that you be so with them. They don’t have time to stop and think about lies or deception. They talk without stopping to think and give it to you instantly.

Your Aries child has a natural sense of fun; it is the zodiac’s child! They love to share jokes and pranks and will laugh even if the joke is way beyond their baby years. They have an innate sense of understanding fun. This is their method of joining in with your fun.

Aries is born under the sign of the Spring Equinox. It is the beginning of the zodiacal New Year, and Aries is the first sign. You will notice this ‘Me First’ attitude that naturally surfaces in your child. The young ram is adventurous, ambitious, impulsive, enthusiastic and highly energetic. This child is a pioneer both in thought and action, very open to new ideas and a lover of freedom. Your Aries child will welcome new challenges and will not be sidetracked from their original purpose; the exception?

The Aries own impatience and anger, which will surface if they don’t get quick results is the exception to this rule.

Now, how to tame that high spirit and calm the energy as your newborn grows into the toddler stage. While your newborn will love the stimulation of movement and bright colors, as your child grows into the toddler stage you will need to calm the waves of energy to allow this child to slow down and feel nurtured.

It’s time to bring in blankets and bedspreads in soft creams and colors found in the dusky sky as the fire burns. The young Ram will likely need something that organizes their life since they are busy moving quickly through the process of growing to adulthood.

They love compartments and you will too. Toy chests that you require them to use will instill discipline in this child’s life and be of great benefit to building the necessary character traits for the Aries child. Aries responds well to quality contemporary design styles. Heavier natural wood furniture will make them feel safe while the lines of the clean contemporary styling appeals to their sense of movement and forward thinking.

The Aries child’s closet needs organized spaces to hang clothes, put away shoes and keep order. What you see is what you get with this child so don’t expect them to spend any extra time looking for a way to organize. They barely have time to think of such mundane activities.

The Ram child loves to learn new things and is a doer. Set up an activity table in their room and give them space. They love to entertain their friends and will surprise you with their quick witted responses and their innate ability to ‘figure things out.’

Avoid flowers, ruffles, lavenders, pinks and pastel greens in the Aries room.

Clean lines on the cream colored drapes that blow in the breeze against the soft glow of the muted fiery walls will be bliss to this child. The deeper colors of the fire blazing n the night sky are perfect accents to this child’s room. Simple, interesting artwork, preferably one of their own creations will bring delight to your Aries child.

The Aries Adult

Aries are courageous leaders with an authentic concern for those they command, being responsible people, it is rare that they will use their subordinates to obtain their own objectives as leaders, but occasionally it does happen.

They do not make very good followers because they are take charge personalities. Aries may be reluctant to obey directions if they disagree or cannot make sense of the request.

They are a great deal concerned with self, both positively and negatively – self-reliant but also self centered at times; they may be concerned with their own personal advancement and physical satisfaction. Their vast energy supply makes them insistent and impatient, and at times even argumentative. Aries is a headstrong, quick tempered, easily offended zodiac sign very proficient at holding grudges if they feel themselves affronted.

This first sign in the zodiac is eager to get something started and then lead it to a successful conclusion! The Sun in Aries allows you free rein to express yourself.

Aries typically hold leadership positions and are proficient in finding ways to force people to see things their way. Typically they accomplish this by finding some cause that truly moves them and then promoting it. Aries can at times, unwittingly make it hard for others to relate to them at the core of their being, oft times this leads to people around them commenting that they are difficult to really know.

Aries individuals are forthright, direct and sincere; they make enthusiastic and generous friends. Most Aries have a high sex drive and make passionate but persnickety lovers. Aries can also easily become irritated by slowness or restraint in your companions and, although Aries is a sensitive sign, they run roughshod over the sensitivities of others.

Arians are very devoted to their children to the point that they will, without thought, lay down their lives for them.

The Aries adult continues the colors and blends of colors from their childhood but tend towards a more sensuous look and feel in their home.

Aries enjoys quality artwork and contemporary sculptures that project or evoke emotions. They tend to love textures and layers of design in their home to relieve the boredom of quieter design styles. Add the ruling color of red as accessories like drapes, decorative pillows and comfy throws.

Aries moves quickly through life and loves a quick power nap. They hate hunting for anything and equally may hate putting things away. Aries enjoys beauty but is not committed to creating or maintaining order or organization. To instill harmony, this trait needs to be cultivated by them because chaos strains their already busy nervous system.

Aries is allied with the top of the house; they could find utter bliss in an attic bedroom so long as it is full of the Aries elements and AIRY. The Aries Ram is a pioneer at heart and simply needs to be on top, at home, at work, in the world and most certainly when they sleep!

Interesting, cutting edge and different bedding, furnishings and overall ambiance are the components of their real dream bedroom. Hence the idea of an attic bedroom that allows the Ram to climb to the perfect secret place to relax and rest. Darker wall colors or wall coverings are preferable to tone down that fiery energy and overheated sexual energy of the Aries soul. However, do it sparingly to allow them to sleep peacefully in their special haven.

The Massive Star That Died, Not With A Bang, But With A Whimper

A black hole of stellar mass is born when a massive star experiences a gravitational collapse, and perishes in the brilliantly beautiful, and furiously fatal, fiery core-collapse of a supernova explosion. At least that’s the way it usually happens, but some especially massive stars travel to the beat of a different drum, and refuse to go gentle into that good night–dying not with a bang, but with a whimper. N6946-BH1 is just such an erstwhile massive star, that weighed-in at 25 times the mass of our Sun during its life on the hydrogen burning main-sequence–and, therefore, should have blasted itself to pieces in an extremely bright supernova conflagration. Instead, this “failed supernova” simply fizzled out–leaving behind only a whimpering black hole, telling the tragic story of how once there was a star, that is a star no more. In May 2017, astronomers reported that they had witnessed the quiet and peaceful demise of this massive, dying star, that had mysteriously vanished out of their sight. As many as 30 percent of such exceptionally massive stars, it seems, may quietly collapse into black holes–leaving behind no brilliant supernova to disclose their terrible, tragic end.

It required the combined power of the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT), and NASA’s Hubble (HST) and Spitzer Space Telescopes to go on the hunt for the tattered wreckage of what was once a star–only to find that this particular star had disappeared without a trace.

“Massive fails” like this one, in a galaxy not far away, could account for why astronomers seldom observe supernovae from the most massive stellar inhabitants of the Universe, explained Dr. Christopher Kochanek in a May 25, 2017 NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Press Release. Dr. Kochanek is a professor of astronomy at The Ohio State University in Columbus, and the Ohio Eminent Scholar in Observational Cosmology. The JPL is in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Kochanek leads a team of astronomers who published their most recent results in the April 1, 2017 Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society (UK) under the title: The Search for failed supernovae with Large Binocular Telescope: confirmation of a disappearing star.

“The typical view is that a star can form a black hole only after it goes supernova. If a star can fall short of a supernova and still make a black hole, that would help to explain why we don’t see supernovae from the most massive stars,” Dr. Kochanek continued to comment.

Playfully referred to as the “Fireworks Galaxy”, NGC 6946 is among the galaxies that the team of astronomers were observing. It is a spiral galaxy, 22 million light-years away, and it was given its nickname because dazzling, fiery supernovae often explode there. Indeed, SN 2017eaw, discovered on May 14, 2017, is showing itself off right now, and is currently sparkling brilliantly at its maximum, fiery brightness.

Beginning in 2009, the star, dubbed N6946-BH1, began to softly brighten with only a weak glow. However, by 2015, this strange, dim star had gone out like a blown candle, and had vanished. The mysterious disappearing star was nowhere to be seen.

Going Out With A Bang

Core-collapse –or Type II–supernovae mark the final, fatal act of a massive star that has finished burning its necessary supply of fuel as a result of the process of nuclear-fusion. In order for an elderly, doomed star to suffer through this form of rapid, catastrophic collapse–followed by a devastating supernova explosion–it must have at least eight times, and no more than 40 to 50 times, the mass of our own small Sun. A supernova explosion can shine so brightly that it briefly outshines its entire host galaxy.

Supernovae are the most powerful of all known stellar explosions, and they can be observed all the way out to the very edge of the visible Universe. When a massive star perishes in the final, furious tantrum of a fatal supernova, it leaves behind in its own wreckage, either an extremely dense, relatively small “oddball” termed a neutron star, or a stellar mass black hole.

Stars manufacture energy by way of the process of nuclear fusion. Unlike our relatively small Sun, heavier stars contain sufficient mass to fuse atomic elements that are heavier than hydrogen and helium–the two lightest of all atomic elements. Stars perform this act of atomic metamorphosis at increasing temperatures and pressures. The degeneracy pressure of electrons and the energy manufactured by fusion reactions are sufficient to wage war against the force of gravity and prevent the star from collapsing–thus maintaining stellar equilibrium. The star fuses increasingly heavier and heavier atomic elements, starting with hydrogen and helium, and then progressing on and on through all of the atomic elements up to iron and nickel. In the end, when a core of iron and nickel is created by the elderly, massive star, it has reached the end of that long stellar road. Nuclear fusion of iron and nickel can produce no net energy output, and therefore no further fusion can occur–leaving the nickel-iron core inert. Alas, because there is no longer energy output creating outward pressure, equilibrium is broken, and the star is ready for its grand finale.

When the heavy mass of the iron-nickel core is greater than what is termed the Chandrasekhar limit of 1.4 solar masses, electron degeneracy alone cannot wage war against the force of gravity, thus maintaining stellar equilibrium. A horrific, fiery, brilliant supernova explosion occurs within seconds, in which the outer core attains an inward velocity of as much as 23% of the speed of light, while the temperature of the inner core soars to as much as 100 billion Kelvin.

Supernovae usually destroy the doomed massive star, blasting it to shreds, and violently hurling its brilliant rainbow of multicolored gaseous layers out into the space between stars. The most massive stars in the Universe collapse and blow themselves up–leaving behind a stellar mass black hole. That is what usually happens–but not always.

Stellar-mass black holes have masses ranging from about 5 to several tens of solar masses. A black hole, of any mass, can possess only three fundamental properties: electric charge, mass, and angular momentum (spin). The spin of a black hole is the result of the conservation of angular momentum of the star that produced it.

According to Albert Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity (1915), a black hole of any mass could exist in nature. The smaller the mass, the higher the density of matter must be in order to create a black hole. There is no known process that can form a black hole with a mass less than a few times solar-mass.

Our Milky Way Galaxy hosts several candidate stellar mass black holes which are situated closer to our Earth than the supermassive black hole that lurks in the Galactic center. Our Galaxy’s resident supermassive black hole weighs millions of times more than our Sun. Most of the other black hole candidates are members of X-ray binary systems. These binary systems contain one vampire-like compact object that sips up the material from its unfortunate binary companion by way of an accretion disk. The probable black holes that exist in these binary systems can range from three to over a dozen times the mass of our Sun.

The Massive Star That Died, Not With A Bang, But With A Whimper

After the LBT survey for failed supernovae turned up the mysterious star, N6946-BH1, astronomers used the HST and Spitzer space telescopes to see if it was really still there–merely hiding, after having dimmed. The astronomers also used the infrared Spitzer space telescope to hunt for any infrared radiation streaming out from the location where the vanished star could be in hiding, thus eluding their prying eyes. This infrared radiation would have provided an important clue, revealing that the star was still present, but was merely hiding behind the obscuring veil of a dust cloud.

However, all the tests came out negative. The star was not there. By a careful process of elimination, the astronomers finally concluded that the star must have become a black hole.

It is still too early in the project to know for certain how frequently massive stars undergo this type of supernova failure. However, Dr. Scott Adams was able to make a preliminary estimate. “NGC6946-BH1 is the only likely failed supernova that we found in the first seven years of our survey. During this period, six normal supernovae have occurred within the galaxies we’ve been monitoring, suggesting that 10 to 30 percent of massive stars die as failed supernovae,” Dr. Adams noted in the May 25, 2017 JPL Press Release. Dr. Adams, a former doctoral student at Ohio State University, is now an astrophysicist at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena.

“This is just the fraction that would explain the very problem that motivated us to start the survey, that is, that there are fewer observed supernovae than should be occurring if all massive stars die this way,” he added.

For Dr. Krzysztof Stanek, a study co-author, the really fascinating part of their discovery is the implications that it holds for the origins of supermassive black holes. Supermassive black holes, weighing in at millions to billions of times more than our Sun, dwell with secret and sinister intent in the centers of every large galaxy in the observable Universe–including our own. These supermassive black holes are precisely the kind that the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) observed when it detected gravitational waves. Gravitational waves are ripples in the fabric of Spacetime, predicted by Albert Einstein in his Theory of General Relativity.

However, Dr. Stanek noted in the May 25, 2017 JPL Press Release that it doesn’t necessarily make sense that a massive star could go supernova and still have enough mass left over to give birth to a massive black hole on the scale of those that LIGO detected. This is because a supernova blows off much of the dying massive star’s outer layers. Dr. Stanek is a professor of astronomy at Ohio State.

The Value of Partnership Currency

Knowledgeable people know a lot of facts and have at their fingertips a lot of information. Successful and prosperous ones know a lot of people – and treat them well. They realize that relationships are their most valuable asset, and they consistently, intentionally, systematically, and strategically nurture those relationships in order to form strong strategic partners.

Similarly, prosperous organizations are based on successful partnerships. This may have been optional in the past but is a critical to ensuring long-term, sustainable success in today’s global and uncertain economy.

Many companies have become fairly astute in the measurement of the hard assets listed on their balance sheet, and analysis of the return on investment provided by the organization. These types of analyses are often used as a barometer by which the company’s financial stability and capacity for growth are measured. Some organizations have become effective at analyzing processes and desired outcomes. Collectively, these are important, even necessary aspects of managing a business efficiently and ensuring adequate resources are present to support functioning and growth – yet they are insufficient to ensure success.

The next step in a company’s evolution toward sustainable success is measuring, analyzing, and capitalizing on soft assets, including brands, people and relationships. Soft assets are characterized as intangible and tend to be more nebulous and poorly understood. Consequently, they are often left out of the analysis of factors that contribute to an organization’s success.

Savvy organizations identify and account for soft assets’ unique and inherent value. Line items in the “soft asset balance sheet” tend to include brand equity, human capital, and strategic relationships – perhaps identified as alliances, joint ventures, licensing partnerships, or long-term customer or supplier contracts.

When the underlying relationships are weak, these soft assets can be just as damaging to an organization’s bottom line as direct financial drains. “Red line behavior” is expensive in productivity, in reputation, and ultimately in financial terms. Who wants to partner with a bully that puts his own short-term gains ahead of the partnership? How likely is it that you would be motivated to do your best, when there is a constant whiner on your team? Like it or not, these behaviors adversely impact the entire organization.

Conversely, when brought into an organization’s core strategic thinking – and implementation – soft assets are proving to be unique, sustainable competitive differentiators. A company’s culture may be an important differentiator in attracting key talent (internal partners) and corporate partners. Its true values, as measured by its everyday actions, not merely its claims, may be the key reason underlying brand loyalty exhibited by customer-partners.

We recommend quantifying the value of each of these soft assets, and challenge the traditional understanding of return on investment. Indeed, we recommend augmenting the concept of return on investment with that of return on influence, return on involvement, return on integration, return on impact, and return on image

The Art and Skills of Active Release Therapy

Movement potential is encouraged through preventative healthcare, treatment and rehabilitation and both Physiotherapists and Chiropractors have been trained to identify the underlying problems of soft tissue injury and seek to rehabilitate through manipulation those suffering from these very painful and debilitating conditions. Manual therapy, together with therapeutic exercise in various forms are the core skills of their trade and, during their training both Physiotherapists and Chiropractors are trained to use different techniques, such as the active release technique, in order to rehabilitate different sets of muscle groups in order to promote soft tissue healing.

Soft Tissue Injuries

Soft tissue injury is all too common and, if you are suffering from one of the conditions involving damage to soft tissues, you are aware that the pain has to be experienced to be believed. Often these soft tissue injuries have been caused by you overusing your muscles which results in the well-known symptoms accompanying carpal tunnel syndrome and RSI; plantar fasciitis; sciatica and knee problems; shoulder pain and, amongst other conditions, the ubiquitous back pain which causes so many lost working hours every year. You probably know yourself that drugs are generally not the answer, despite them masking your pain and enabling you to continue with your daily tasks: believe it or not, this, in itself, exacerbates the problem – you continue to use your poor overused muscles far too much and you continue to suffer.

Why the Problem Persists

When you damage your soft tissues, usually by an accidental tear or pull to the tissue, an accumulation of minute tearing occurs to the tissues inside. However, as a result of this tearing, hypoxia can occur to the damaged tissue, where the tissue cells fail to obtain sufficient oxygen. As the body tries to heal itself naturally you will actually see inflammation occurring around the site of the injury. During this repair process tough, fibrotic tissue is laid down around your injury in a completely indiscriminate manner. It is this tough, fibrotic tissue that often continues to cause you pain and stiffness and limits your activities during your normal everyday activities.

As this dense scar tissue builds up and binds itself to your surround soft tissue you will find it prevents the surrounding tissue from being able to move as freely as it ought to. If more scar tissue is deposited your muscles will become shortened, losing some of their strength. This will produce too much tension on your tendons that are attached to these muscles. When the nerves that serve these damaged tissues become trapped, you will experience the symptoms of tendonitis. Apart from the pain you experience from these trapped nerves and damaged tissue, you find your range of movements is limited and your muscles aren’t as strong as they used to be. You may experience numbness, tingling and weakness, often accompanied by a slight burning sensation in your muscles.

How Can this Problem be Helped?

There is a way to help your soft tissues to heal themselves more effectively. It involves a therapy known as the Active Release Technique. This is an Active Release Technique that involves a series of more than 500 explicit movements. The unique protocols that Active Release therapy incorporates have been specially patented as the Active Release Technique. If you arrange to visit an Active Release provider, they will take a case history from you, evaluating each muscle, fascia, tendon, ligament and nerve to see whether they are tight, what kind of movement these soft tissues are able to do, and the texture of your soft tissues. This means that these Active Release providers can evaluate what is happening to your soft tissues by how the texture feels when they are touching it.

From this, a trained Active Release provider will be able to identify the abnormal tissue and locate the soft tissue injury that is causing you so much pain. Once your problem area has been located, specifically directed tension can be combined with the Active Release provider directing you to undertake very precise movements that can help rehabilitate your damaged tissues. Active Release therapy is most successful if you get help from an Active Release provider as soon as you can after the occurrence of the injury. The earlier mobilisation of the affected part occurs, the more likely you are to achieve a full range of motion again: inactivity is now known to prolong the process of healing.

Active Release Therapy Provides the Solution

During the course of their training and their subsequent clinical practice, Physiotherapists and Chiropractors both employ many different movement-based techniques that are designed to treat associated soft tissue injuries that involve muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves, all of which are revealed in the pain we associate with back pain and headaches. One of these specific techniques is known as Active Release Technique, more commonly referred to as ART. Active release therapy is relatively new in the UK: however, in the USA, this active release technique has been practised for many years now.

Physiotherapists, on completion of their four-year training, need to be registered with their country’s regulatory body such as the Health Professions Council before they are eligible to practice. Similarly, Chiropractors, once they have completed their four-year training are required to be registered with their own regulatory body such as the General Chiropractor Council before they are allowed to practice. This is then followed by a further post-graduate year of training, after which [in the UK] they can become registered with the British Chiropractic Association and the McTimoney Chiropractic Association: other countries offer similar post-graduate registration.

Where Can You Get Help?

You can get highly specialised help from Active Release providers who have been specifically trained in soft tissue management to assess problems with your muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia and nerves and then arrange a course of exercises that are recommended by the patented ART technique. There are as many as 35 places where nerves in the arm can become entrapped: ART providers have been trained to check each of these places and locate the place where the nerve is trapped. These exercises can help you by Active Release providers utilising combinations of the 500 treatment protocols to relieve the stress on the tissues surrounding your injury.

You may have tried different treatments and therapies and found none of them really worked. Perhaps you have already visited chiropractors and physiotherapists but nothing they recommended has fully resolved your problem. ART technique is totally safe, with practically no side effects. It is non-invasive and has a very good track record. You may find the ART technique treatments are rather uncomfortable as many of the movements are designed to break up adhesions and scar tissue. However, ART technique treatments come highly recommended: professional hockey player Gary Roberts and Donovan Bailey, the Canadian Olympic sprinter both suffered from repetitive strain injury and turned to Active Release therapy to assist in their healing – with huge success!

ART technique is a massage-based procedure, with more aggression attached! ART providers use their thumbs and fingers to move your tissues in such a way that your adhesion breaks away from your tissues. A normal session can last as long as an hour and a half. During that time you will notice that the aggressive manipulation using the ART technique on your damaged tissue, using the thumb and finger technique, will result in your adhesion ripping apart from its surrounding tissue. Following further sessions of ART therapy, which can be as many as six in some cases, many people are able to return to a fully active life, including activities they thought were history for them.

Osprey OSX Soft Surfboard Reviews

The Osprey OSX Surfboard is a type of surfboard that suits beginners more than anything. Many of its features and materials are there so you can catch much more waves and be more buoyant on the water than all the other surfboards that are out there. As you would expect from a beginner surfboard from Osprey all the materials are of the highest quality, but besides that it’s also cheap so the beginner can afford it as well. In this article you will find out what features make this surfboard so good for starters and people who are looking to get more confident on those intimidating waves.

To start off with the Osprey OSX Surfboard uses soft foam for the top lining of the board. This is intelligent due to the fact that many beginners will have trouble with balance. Also on more of the advanced boards there is usually a hard material such as wood and sometimes fins on the end which can cut or hurt you. Thankfully the soft foam on this board means that if you fall off then you will be cushioned due to the foam. The soft foam also makes this surfboard much more buoyant than others which use fibreglass.

Another advantage which is great for beginners is the fact that the Osprey OSX Boards are very lightweight for their size which means they are very easy to carry. The Polyurethane material also makes it lightweight and more buoyant. This obviously helps your performance as you’ll be able to catch much more waves and be able to stay on longer. On the base there is an EVA core which helps to keep it stable even in the most vigilant of waves.

Included with this lightweight surfboard when you buy it is 3 fins and screws to put them on. Fins are great if you’re looking for that extra manoeuvrability when surfing. It allows you to catch waves at different angles and it allows you to turn faster and give yourself much more scope when surfing. Besides extra fins it also comes with it is a leash, a leash it vital for any surfer who’s just starting, this is due to the fact that if you fall of you’ll be right near your board and can grab straight back onto it and start paddling again.

There is no doubt that this type of surfboard is great if you’re just starting. It has everything you need: buoyancy, lightweight, soft foam for protection and durability.

How Soft Skills (Aka Leadership) Save Time And Make Money

Just recently, I was talking with a HR expert who works in Executive placement in larger companies. I asked him to estimate for me what it costs for a company to have the wrong person in a role and have to hire another person or to hire a person who is a bad fit for their team who only last 6 months? He estimated that it costs at least $100,000 to the company in lost salary, momentum and reputation (having 3 people in a role within 12 months). Of course that figure could be far higher depending on whether the company was depending on this person to launch a major product or handle a major account.

This is an example of how the ‘Soft Skills’ are critical to a company or organisation’s success. A company is far more likely to hire the best people if they have:

  • Established and fleshed out very clear vision, mission, values and corporate culture (all soft skills).
  • Developed a strong leadership culture in which everyone is empowered to contribute (soft skills)
  • Built real teams where everyone is accountable to agreed outcomes, including the leader (again soft skills)
  • Have understood each current team member’s personality profile (using a tool like E-DISC) in order to establish clear communication and heightened function (soft skills).
  • Worked out the kind of person they need to hire in terms of personality profile as well as skill set (soft skills).

Soft Skills are the key to growing your organisation.

Soft Skills (a.k.a. Leadership Skills) include:

  • People skills – learning to inspire, to relate, to communicate
  • Team building skills – learning how to work together, to build synergy
  • Relationship skills – connecting people to other people and to vision
  • Motivational skills – inspiring, challenging holding people accountable
  • Skills related to building culture and momentum – where everyone belongs and builds
  • Strategic planning skills – making the strategic plan a living working document
  • Skills related to empowering and releasing people to flourish
  • Mentoring skills – where everyone is learning and growing
  • Coaching skills – where everyone is lifted and challenged to be the best they can be

Every organisation needs technicians and managers with excellent skills in order to conduct their core business. Every organisation needs administration and financial management.

However, the truth is that while managers, administrators and technicians are necessary it takes Leaders with Leadership Skills to grow a business or organisation. That’s right – if you analyse the growth of any business or organisation in every case you will find that it’s a Leader using ‘Soft Skills’ that has been behind the growth.
